British electronic duo Autechre have announced a new album ‘SIGN.’
By Bubba Krishnamurti
Autechre have announced their soon to be released record SIGN; their first release since the Elseq series and NTS Session 1-4 in 2018. The 60 minute+ album consists of 11 tracks and was hinted at back in March during a lockdown stream on Mixlr.
The duo came together in 1987 and anchored the nascent UK electronic label Warp Records. The label has issued all of their full length records since their 1993 debut Incunabula. Their music wears obvious influences on its sleeve drawing from 1980s electro-funk and acid house. Their soundscapes have deeply evolved over their 3 decade+ span and have progressed into experimenting with melodic driven-techno and ‘complex algorithm-generated production.’
SIGN is set to be Autechre’s first full length since 2013’s Exai.
