A new album of music by the late Ennio Morricone will be posthumously released next month..
Morricone Segreto centers on the Italian composer’s unpublished recordings over a 3 decade span. The 27-track collection, of which the title translates to English as ‘Secret Morricone,’ underscores a rarely mentioned “hidden, dark-tinged and psychedelic side” of Morricone — says a Decca press release.
Morricone Segreto is slated to release on what would have been Morricone’s 92nd birthday on November 10. with Morricone having passed away earlier in 2020 after breaking his femur in a fall. He was 91.
The news of Morricone Segreto comes after the release of Dimensioni Sonore – Musiche Per L’Immagine E L’immaginazione — a massive 103 track box-set of Morricone and Bruno Nicolai’s catalog. Nicolai was an Italian film composer whose work with Merricone spans 6 decades. Nicolai is best known for his contribution to Quentin Tarantino film Kill Bill 2. The box set is set to release on October 30.
Decca / CAM Sugar will release Morricone Segreto on November 6, 2020.
